Almost 6 years in fintech. Last role: Head of Anti-Fraud, where I built the function from scratch.

Now I focus on Product: researching problems, testing hypotheses, and building my own digital products.

I want to apply this experience at the product level - influencing not a single function, but what we build and for whom.

facts about me
01

My parrot Charlie

Charlie the parrot has lived with me for about five years. He inspired one of my own projects.

02

I love movies

And if a new Marvel movie comes out, you'll probably find me at the first screening.

03

I like sharing knowledge

At one job I actively mentored newcomers, and later even built my own project where I review practical case solutions and give expert feedback.

04

My first website, at 11 or 12

Back in the dinosaur and WAP days I made it on a push-button phone with a monochrome screen. It was called Charmed something. I don't remember what it was about, but I do remember it got hacked and stolen.

PAPUGtesting

↳ MVP within SKELAR AI Lab ↳ type - PetTech · B2C · freemium

A B2C PetTech product for parrot owners that helps track changes in a bird's condition and keep a structured history of observations.

Birds often hide early signs of illness. PAPUG turns separate observations into a history where change is easier to see - and, if needed, to share with a vet.

IN1

June 2025 - May 2026
Head of Anti-Fraud

I joined a fintech startup when a dedicated anti-fraud function effectively did not yet exist, and built it from scratch across card, crypto, and SEPA flows.

  • Assessed fraud risks in key payment scenarios and used that assessment to define the necessary controls, monitoring rules, and operational processes.
  • Shaped business and technical requirements for anti-fraud solutions, translating operational-team problems into concrete logic for Data and Engineering.
  • Worked with developers on backend fraud rules and requirements for an internal anti-fraud admin panel: analyst workflows, required data, actions, and case-handling logic.
  • Worked with a Data Analyst on SQL-based detection rules, monitoring, and dashboards for identifying suspicious patterns.
  • Built the operating model between Anti-Fraud and Support: ownership, escalation paths, case handoffs, and investigation procedures.
  • Owned chargebacks end to end: case analysis, evidence preparation, provider communication, follow-up, and internal decisions.
  • Worked with external payment and crypto providers, took part in solution comparisons, and assessed functionality and alert logic.
  • Owned operational decisions in complex fraud cases and suspicious activity.

What I bring from this into Product: working through ambiguity, launching a function from zero, requirements, internal products, data-driven rules, cross-functional work, and ownership from problem to implementation.

Wirex

October 2020 - June 2025

In under five years, I progressed through four roles - from Verification Specialist to Senior Financial Crime Analyst.

04Senior Financial Crime AnalystOctober 2024 - June 2025

In my final Wirex role, my work extended well beyond individual case handling into processes, team coordination, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Covered for the Team Lead for periods of up to one month and coordinated a seven-person team across screening and transaction-monitoring workstreams.
  • Planned and organised the team's work to clear backlog and stabilise processes.
  • Prepared team-performance reporting for internal stakeholders.
  • Designed automation improvements in the ticketing system for customer-contact processes initiated by internal teams.
  • Worked with Data, Development, Fraud, Blockchain Analytics, Support, Assurance, and external providers to resolve operational issues.
  • Communicated with AML analysts and MLROs at external providers on additional-information requests and SAR-related cases.
  • Organised cross-training between Financial Crime teams.
  • Supported audit preparation with data and documentation.
  • While covering the Team Lead, reviewed and approved complex analytical decisions, closure requests, and escalations.

What matters for Product here: leadership without a formal manager title, process design, automation thinking, metrics, stakeholder management, and work across multiple teams.

03Financial Crime AnalystAugust 2022 - September 2024

I moved from foundational KYC into full Financial Crime work across transaction monitoring, screening, EDD, and investigations.

  • Analysed transaction-monitoring and screening alerts.
  • Conducted EDD for confirmed PEPs.
  • Investigated suspicious activity and escalated complex cases to senior management.
  • Contributed to risk-based exit and account-closure decisions.
  • Filed SARs with the relevant authorities and external service providers.
  • Handled provider requests related to transaction monitoring and screening.
  • Screened suppliers.
  • Trained and mentored junior analysts.
  • Created training materials and process documentation.
  • Supported the Fraud team with fraud alerts and backlog when additional capacity was needed.

Role progression: I was no longer simply following a procedure; I regularly worked through ambiguous cases, risk, decision rationale, and training others.

02KYC AnalystOctober 2021 - August 2022

The next step after Verification brought greater responsibility for complex KYC cases, internal consulting, and sanctions-related work.

  • Supported the Wirex US launch from the verification and KYC side.
  • Worked with new US customers and US Compliance on verification requirements.
  • Identified bugs and process issues affecting the verification flow.
  • Supported the Sanctions team with PEP and Adverse Media screening.
  • Escalated suspicious activity and prepared internal SARs when needed.
  • Advised other teams on KYC processes.
  • Mentored new employees from their first day.
  • Created learning materials and ran internal training sessions.
  • Identified and reported incidents affecting the verification process.

An early pattern is already clear here, and it repeated in nearly every role that followed: I quickly moved from “running the process” to “explaining how it should work, finding its problems, and teaching others.”

01Verification SpecialistOctober 2020 - September 2021

My first role in fintech.

  • Conducted CDD for new and existing customers.
  • Checked customer data and documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identified fraudulent documents and suspicious behaviour.
  • Prepared internal SARs for suspicious cases.
  • Handled customer verification requests through the ticketing system.
  • Created refund and defund requests for closed accounts.
  • Worked with Support and Compliance to resolve verification-process issues.
  • Identified and reported incidents.
  • Already in this role, I began mentoring new employees and providing practical training.

November 2017 - October 2018Mega-Design - Accountant

  • Handled payroll, tax payments, tax and excise invoices, and monthly close and reconciliation.
  • Prepared monthly, quarterly, annual, tax, and statistical reporting.
  • Accounted for fixed assets and inventory across LLC and sole-proprietor entities.
August 2017 - October 2017Mega-Design - Procurement Manager

My first full-time role after university.

  • Purchased materials and services and worked with both existing and new suppliers.
  • Compared and negotiated terms and coordinated deliveries, acceptance, and shipments.
  • Coordinated with customers and maintained purchasing and sales documents.
  • Monitored accounts payable and receivable and prepared procurement and sales reports.

Before fintech, I worked with B2B customers, procurement, finance, and public tenders - experience that gave me a strong operational and commercial foundation before moving into financial technology.
